Paid employment in Fiji's tourism sector increased by 21 percent in the July to September quarter this year compared with the same period last year.
The figure has been released by the Fiji Bureau of Statistics.
The increase in paid employment has been attributed to an increase in hotel capacity and occupancy rates.
The marketing manager of the Fiji Visitors Bureau, Joe Tuamoto, says the figures are consistent with the increase in the number of visitors which has gone up by 18 percent.
Income from tourism in the third quarter was 41-point-5 million US dollars, up from 33-million in the same period last year.
