The New Ireland governor, Ian Ling-Stuckey, has blamed the closure of the Kavieng police station in Papua New Guinea on disgruntled public servants.
Mr Ling-Stuckey has singled out the Deputy Administrator Simon Passingan for not complying with instructions to release funds approved by the provincial executive council for maintenance to the police barracks.
The Kavieng police station is closed because the building has been condemned.
Mr Ling -Stuckey says the non-compliance with his instructions was a deliberate attempt by disgrnutled public servants to frustrate police investigations into the adminstration.
Mr Ling-Stuckey says there is now a situation where the provincial administration is fighting against the police and he is very concerned.
Mr Ling-Stuckey says he blames Simon Passingan for the closure because he issued directives to release funds when Mr Passingan was the acting Provincial Administrator.
