A former Papua New Guinea government minister, Jacob Wama, has been found guilty on four counts of misappropriating public funds, totalling 40-thousand US dollars.

The National Court in Madang has refused bail to the former MP and Pentecostal pastor who is to be kept in jail until he is sentenced on Thursday.

The Post Courier newspaper quotes the judge as saying the money in question had been given to him for specific projects.

The court found he had placed the funds into his own, his son's and a company account, for which his brother-in-law was a signatory.
