The Taiwanese government has paid back rent owed by the Solomon Islands government for its ambassadorial accomodation in New York.

The Solomons ambassador to the United Nations had earlier received an eviction notice from his landlord's lawyers because the rent was eighteen months in arrears.

Solomon Islands Under Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Sam Tagana, says an agreement has been reached between the Foreign Minister, Nollen Leni and his Taiwanese counterpart to settle the arrears.

Mr Tagana says similar problems are being experienced by all the country's diplomatic missions.
