The United States government has described the guilty verdict in the Daewoosa garment factory trial as a victory in the largest human trafficking case ever investigated by the FBI.

The US Attorney General, John Ashcroft, speaking after the verdict was delivered, described such trafficking as more than a violation of the law, but an affront to human dignity.

One of the prosecutors, Lou de Baca, said the conviction demonstrated that the US Justice Department was committed to ensuring that those who trafficked in human lives were aggressively investigaed, swiftly prosecuted and firmly punished.
