Congregation Christian Church in Samoa decides to control which pastors go on television

The elders of Samoa's biggest church have decided to select a pastor to appear on television to discuss religious issues instead of the station making its own selection.

Televise Samoa's Va'a O Manu raises religious issues and often invites well known pastors or priests from the various Christian denominations to discuss them.

The elders of the Congregation Christian Church have decided that any request for a pastor from their church to take part in the programme must go through them.

At one stage the Apia West ward of the church wanted to ban its pastors from appearing on the programme.

But that idea was rejected by elders, who thought the programme often helped extend understanding
