The Fiji Broadcasting Corporation says it has raised a loan for a new transmitter to replace the one on Vanua Levu destroyed by Cyclone Ami two months ago.
The head of Radio Fiji, Francis Herman, says radio service to the eastern and northern islands is being sustained with an interim solution.
He says the radio is buying a new transmitter.
"We've actually raised the loan locally a major loan with a commercial loan to fund that and no ones really come through and said no we'll give you a transmitter whatever next but once we get the tenders in then we will go through to the like NZODA and AUSAid and that as well and see whether they can give us some funds for it."
