Large fire causes extensive damage in Marshall Islands capital

One of the biggest fires in Marshall Islands history struck on Thursday evening destroying one Majuro's main grocery businesses, several other companies and rental apartments and offices.

The fire started at Cost Price, one of the largest wholesale and retail grocery operations in Majuro.

It soon engulfed several large refrigerated containers next door, a discount business, a stevedore warehouse, a duty free shop, restaurant and numerous other businesses.

The fire is esimated to have caused up to eight million US dollars in damage.
