The Tongan government has confirmed it now supports the US-led war on Iraq.
The prime minister's office says King Taufa'ahau Tupou had initially written to the US administration outlining Tonga's backing for the UN resolutions regarding Iraq.
However, the Tongan government says since the war started, it has directed its support to the US and its efforts to protect peace and security in the world.
