US government provides funds to support American Samoan government operations

The US government has awarded almost 23 million US dollars to the administration of American Samoa for general government operations.

The acting governor, Togiola Tulafono, says the award is 200-thousand dollars short of what was expected but the cut is seen as being in line with across the board reductions in US discretionary accounts.

Togiola says the funds include seven million dollars for hospital operations and 800-thousand dollars to run the high court.
