8:11 am on 5 April 2003

The Solomon Islands Government, which has been struggling to pay its way for months, says MPs will shortly be paid tens of thousands of U.S. dollars to be used for development in their community.

Around two point five million US dollars is being set aside for the Constituency Development Fund.

The Minister of Provincial Development has told MPs they will need to open Constituency Accounts before any of the money can be paid.

Officials in the Minister's office have indicated that some of the cost will be met by Taiwan.
