Government workers in Solomons face eviction

4:25 pm on 7 April 2003

Solomon Islands public workers renting private homes face eviction because the Government has failed to settle outstanding rental arrears.

The Landlords Association has warned the Government that if the arrears are not settled, it will seek a court order to have the workers evicted.

The arrears amount to one million US dollars.

The Association chairman Patteson Toenunu says its members have been tolerant enough and unless the Government does something soon, the tenants will have no other choice but to vacate the houses.
