Claims that patients in the Solomon's main hospital are at risk because of a shortage of drugs has been refuted by the Medical Supplies section of the Health Department.

The Director of Pharmacy Services in Solomon Islands, Ray Skinner, says the front line antibiotics that were out of stock are arriving in the country this week.

But he says other drugs could be used in their place.

"The Solomon Islands essential drugs, carries are number of items in reserves and stocks of those reserves, are available so emergency treatments, could still be affected."
