Eight American Samoan residents arrested by FBI agents yesterday have been charged with conspiracy to defraud the United States by submitting fraudulent medical claims.

Four of the defendants were employed at the government-owned LBJ Medical Centre while the others were former employees or relatives of the defendants.

An FBI spokesman said yesterday that the group would be taken to Honolulu where they would be tried.

However, it now appears that the defendants will be flown to Columbus, Georgia where the charges were originally filed.
