Ten million dollar hotel opens in American Samoa

The 10 milliion US -dollar Quality Inn Tradewinds in American Samoa, has been officially opened with a four hour celebration attracting government, traditional and religious leaders.

The original cost of the four-star hotel was 7-million dollars, under a guaranteed loan from the US Department of Agriculture's Rural Urban Development.

However, during the weekend opening, the Ottoville Investment One president said when the project is fully completed with a first-class restaurant and swimming pool, the cost will be 3-million dollars more than first anticipated.

The 104-room, plantation-style, three-storey hotel currently employs more than 150 people.

The hotel is the largest and most expensive private project in American Samoan history.
