An American Samoan Senator, S.E. Sala, has died in a Hawaii hospital at the age of 62.
Senator Sala died a month after being flown to Honolulu's Straub Medical Clinic for treatement.
He was a member of the House of Representatives for two terms and its vice-speaker for two years before being selected to serve as a senator in 2001.
Funeral arrangements are yet to be announced.
