An indigenous Fijian businesswoman has called on the country's political leaders to be cautious in the remarks they make because it affects investment.

The Fiji Times reports the call has come from Laisa Digitaki, head of the finance consultancy company, Just About Everything Limited.

Ms Digitaki says most of her overseas clients have expressed concern in the past about the deteriorating security situation in the country.

She says Fiji's investment environment is so sensitive and fickle that utterances by political leaders and other influential persons are take seriously by overseas investors.

Ms Digitaki says a good example was the prime minister Laisenia Qarase's recent remarks in Pacific Magazine that he could not guarantee there would be no more political upheaval or economic instability.
