Plans are underway in American Samoa to use local resources for the territory to become a centre of electronic commerce.
A represententative of the Philadelphia-based Wharton Business School, Srinavas [pron: Shree-navas) Velamoor, says the plans are viable.
"The e-commerce initiative has become sort of a three headed project if you will with a information and communication technology training program to start things off with and then an e-commerce development corporation to take advantage of the graduates of this education program and lastly a business incubation facility for which they are seeking funding which will not only house projects and I guess small companies that get started but give both students and local entrepreneurs a chance to get things going"
