Fiji soldiers ready to go th Solomons

Fiji's army says it is ready to send troops to the Solomon Islands if it is asked to do so by the Government.

Fiji is among the Pacific Forum member countries which have agreed to send a two-thousand strong peace keeping force to the Solomon Islands.

Radio Fiji quotes the military spokesman, Warrant Officer Neumi Leweni, as saying thye have five hundred men who were withdrawn from Southern Lebanon last December.

He says these men are on standby for possible deployment to Iraq and now to Solomon Islands.
