Medical clinics due to close in Honiara over pay dispute

All the medical clinics in the Solomon's capital, Honiara, are expected to be closed today.

The Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation says the clinics will be shut in protest at the non payment of salary's for the last nine pay periods.

The General Secretary of the National Union of Workers, Tony Kangovai, says the closure will be indefinite until the outstanding salaries are paid.

All patients are being advised to go to the National Referral Hospital.

The closure will also affect the Ranadi Rubbish Dump where workers have not been paid
