Samoa's census details on disabled to be made available to increase public support

Samoa's National Council of the Disabled, Nuanua O Le Alofa, says personal information gathered in last year's census on disabilities will be passed on to various organisations unless participants object by the end of the month.

Nuanua says the details will be made available to organisations such as the education ministry, the UN Development Programme, the Fred Hollows Foundation and others.

Nuanua says the purpose is to help develop and target support and for people with disabilities in their communities.

It says if respondents to the survey don't want the information to be passed on, it will be kept confidential.
