Vanuatu Ombudsman praises government response to his recommendations

11:16 am on 30 July 2003

The Vanuatu Ombudsman, Hannington Alatoa, has praised government ministries and departments for starting to take his recommendations seriously.

Mr Alatoa says the management of Vila Central Hospital has established complaint procedures for patients, something which the ombudsman recommended recently.

He also says the director general of health is acting on recommedations while the Department of Foreign Affairs has acted on a report on the issue of diplomatic and official passports.

Mr Alatoa says some leaders who were alleged to have breached the Leadership Code are now much more careful of what they do or don't do.
