New Caledonia pro-independence party again postpones special congress

New Caledonia's pro-independence FLNKS movement has again postponed a special congress that was to be held in Moindou today

The Caledonian Union, which is the biggest party within the FLNKS, said it would not attend the congress because it was given late notice.

The main item on the agenda was a briefing on the outcome of a meeting in Kone about the 1998 Noumea accord on greater autonomy.

The FLNKS spokesman, Victor Tutugoro, says the Congress meeting will now be held on August the 30th, and he hopes everyone can attend.

He says it's important for the FLNKS to resolve internal differences.
