Fiji police on track to make arrests soon over killings

Fiji police say they have two people in custody and expect to make arrests soon in the case involving four execution-style killings in Fiji a week ago.

The police said on Tuesday that they were questioning three Chinese nationals and hoped to be able to make an arrest by the end of the week.

They say the motive appears to be a shark's fin business deal that went sour.

The police spokesman, Mesake Koroi, says the focus is now on two of the three Chinese nationals.

He says they have not been charged but are being effectively held in custody by being brought back in for questioning every 48 hours.

He says the need for help with translation has delayed progress, but charges are still expected "pretty soon".
