Fiji's powerful Methodist Church has expressed strong opposition to the inclusion of the Labour Party in a multi party Cabinet.
The Sunday Post quoted the church's General Secretary, Jione Langi, as saying such a Cabinet would be chaotic because the ruling SDL party and Labour couldn't work together.
His comments came after the Prime Minister, Laisenia Qarase, named 14 Labour MPs to be part of an expanded 36 member Cabinet.
He said he left out the Labour leader, Mahendra Chaudhry, becuase he could nto be trusted.
The Reverend Langi says Fiji has come a long way since the political upheaval of the coup and the church did not want this restoration process disturbed in any way.
Mr Qarase has given the Labour MPs named to the Cabinet until the September the 10th to accept their portfolios.
But Mr Chaudhry says they will wait for the outcome of the Surpeme Court ruling on Labour's claims to be entitled to 17 seats.
