Papua New Guinea's Electoral Commission is using people's interest in sport to sell the idea of the new Limited Preferential Voting system.

From today, an advertising campaign is being run in the local media showing how easy it is to use LPV and people are being asked to use the system to vote for the person they consider to be the best National Rugby League player.

The Electoral Commissioner, Andrew Trawen, says the NRL-LPV vote is being timed to coincide with the high nationwide interest in the NRL premiership playoffs.

Mr Trawen says the vote is a good test for LPV before the first Naitonal Parliament LPV by-election is held
