Fraud and smuggling the key issues for Pacific immigration directors conference in Tonga

3:56 pm on 9 September 2003

A three day Pacific Immigration Director's Conference in Nuku'alofa will meet to discuss smuggling and fraud.

The conference hopes to discuss issues and draft solutions to problems of regional smuggling and identity fraud.

Common entry points in the Pacific where these problems occur will be reviewed, such as sea ports.

The PIDC is the regional immigration agency of the Pacific.

The seventh conference begins tomorrow and is organised by Tonga's immigration division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
