Many of the nearly three hundred foreign police in Solomon Islands as part of the intervention force have joined with their Solomons counterparts to celebrate Blue Ribbon Day....the international day of remembrance for police who have died in the line of duty.
The Regional Assistance Mission, or RAMSI, includes police from Tonga, Vanuatu, Kiribati, Samoa, Australia, Cook Islands and New Zealand.
The patron of the Solomon Islands Blue Ribbon Foundation, Paul Tovua, paid tribute to the police who have left their homes and families to help Solomon Islands in its time of need.
He also remembered two former police commissioners who died this year.
Sir Frederick Soaki was shot dead in Auki in February, while Morton Sireheti, who had headed the force until the end of last year, died last month.
The Police Minister, Michael Maina, called for Sir Frederick's suspected killer, police sergeant Edmond Sae, to come forward and face justice.
Sae has been on the run since April after breaking out of Rove prison.
