The new US ambassador to Solomon Islands has announced his country's support for the work of the Australian-led intervention force in the troubled pacific nation.
New US Ambassador Robert Fitts presented his credentials to Solomon Islands Governor-General Sir John Ini Lapli on Tuesday.
During his presentation, the new ambassador told Sir John that the US stands ready to work with the Solomon Islands government and regional neighbours to promote the rule of law and good governance in the country.
Sir John responded by saying that Solomon Islands continues to enjoy a warm and cordial relationship with the US and hopes to build on that relationship.
