American Samoa Congressman calls on business people in the Territory to work together

4:21 pm on 20 October 2003

American Samoa's Congressman, Faleomavaega Eni Hunkin, says he is concerned about the health of business activities in the territory.

He says he's been told an audit of foreign investment in the territory will begin next year.

The audit will be carried out by the General Accounting Office, the investigative arm of Congress.

Faleomavaega says the community in American Samoa is not working together:

"When you have... the Koreans set up their own Chamber of Commerce, the Chinese set up their own Chamber of Commerce, Phillippinos set up their own Chamber of Commerce. That definitely tells me there is no sense of mutual collaboration among the business community."
