RNZI resumes full transmissions on normal frequencies

Radio New Zealand International is now broadcasting regular programme schedules after being off air since the end of August.

A lightening strike damaged RNZI's transmitter at Rangatiki in the central North Island and an International search for replacement parts meant a lengthy delay in getting the service back on air.

Radio New Zealand International manager Linden Clarke says a leased frequency from Radio Australia has meant that relay stations in the Pacific have still been able to access news but that service will cease today as RNZI is officially back to normal programming.
