Figures released in French Polynesia show a drop in reported crime, with theft of motorbikes down by more than sixty percent.

The French high commission says in the first nine months of this year the overall crime figure is is more than seven percent lower than for the same period last year.

But the figures show an increase in violent robberies and financial crimes.

In the capital, Papeete, reported crime has dropped following a change in policing, with more night patrols.
