Samoa police contingent for Liberia to leave at end of December

The Samoa Broadcasting Corporation reports that twenty Samoan police officers scheduled to serve as United Nations peacekeepers in Liberia, are expected to leave for the troubled African country at the end of December.

Police media officer, Assistant Commissioner, Tuitogatupu Poe Ualesi is quoted as saying the officers are training in first aid, communications and security measures.

Samoa has also provided fifteen police officers who have been serving in East Timor and a further fifteen who are helping the restoration of law and order in Solomon islands.
