The French navy has intercepted an Asian boat fishing illegally in New Caledonian waters.
The Shan Sheng 168, which was found to have eight tonnes of fish on board, has been escorted to Noumea.
This comes after sightings of two suspect vessels north of the main island last week.
There was also an incident involving one foreign ship ramming a smaller New Caledonian boat in a failed attempt to avoid interception.
