Indonesian policy refuse to return banned Papuan flag

Police in the Indonesian province of Papua have refused to return a flag taken from pro-independence campaigners on Monday.

The banned Morning Star flag was raised in Sentani in Jayapura to commemorate the West Papuan proclamation of independence.

But police then hoisted the Indonesian flag and removed the Papuan one.

Later the Papuan activists lowered the national flag and returned it to the local police station, demanding their flag be returned.

But the police refused, saying the matter remained under investigation.
