The Papua New Guinea Supreme Court has reinstated former communications Minister Ben Sembri as the elected member for Middle Ramu Open.

His reinstatement came nine months after he was removed due to a Court of Disputed Returns ruling of ballot integrity problems.

But Mr Sembri appealed against the ruling and in a unanimous vote by the three-judge panel, the Supreme Court found the votes were valid.

Mr Sembri's return will see an increase to 13 in the number of MPs of the People's Action Party led by the deputy prime minister, Moses Maladina.
