The Samoa Water Authority says intakes supplying Apia and surrounding areas have not been filled enough to lift water rationing despite a week of rain.
The authority says the rain is still not adequate to cater for the high demand by the public.
Supply from the Fuluasou intake which supplies a large area west of Apia is switched off between 830pm and 4am daily to save water.
Meanwhile, a sudden rush of water from the rain into the Alaoa intake which supplies East Apia has prompted the Authority to shut off equipment because of a sudden gathering of debris in the system.
