Management says Air Tahiti Nui flights not affected by strike action

The management of French Polynesia's international airline says it flights will not be affected by a partial strike of cabin staff.

Members of one union have taken action to press for better conditions, but yesterday's negotiations between Air Tahiti Nui and Union delegates in Papeete was abandoned.

A union spokesman says the airline's management refused to have a union mediator at the talks while Air Tahiti Nui says the strikers rejected an offer to end to their action on condition that pay scales would be assessed by mid January.

Tahiti Presse reports that a union delegate says support for the strike is growing and he has apologised to passengers for the risk of disruptions in the coming days.
