The US Post office in American Samoa will now process US passport applications beginning in February.
Previously, the only office that has processed applications has been the Attorney General's Visa and Passport office.
Local post master Smitty McMoore says the post office would train its staff to process applications early next year.
Mr McMoore says the turn around for passports should be quick.
