Vanuatu no-confidence motion not tabled

12:24 pm on 16 January 2004

The motion of no-confidence in the Vanuatu government of Edward Natapei, that was due to be debated in parliament, has not been tabled.

The leader of the opposition, Serge Vohor, planned to lodge the motion with the Clerk of the House for debate when it resumed sitting after the Christmas break.

Mr Vohor said that 29 MPs, out of a 52-member parliament, would support the no-confidence motion.

But the motion was not tabled.
