Samoa may send peacekeepers to Sudan

Samoa's prime minister says peacekeepers will continue to be sent overseas, possibly to Sudan next.

Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi says 20 police officers will leave for Liberia next month to serve for the UN there.

Tuilaepa says while 15 officers serving in Solomon Islands will return in March, Australia has asked for more to be sent there.

He says these deployments are opportunities that are hard to get and offer chances for some of the officers to get permanent work with the United Nations.
