The chief executive of Fiji's Ministry of Home Affairs, Col Jeremiah Waqanisau, is to leave following the re-appointment of Commodore Bainimarama as the military commander.

Radio Fiji reports that Col Waqanisau is being considered for a diplomatic appointment.

The radio says Col Waqanisau was not happy with Commodore Bainimarama's re-appointment and had recommended other officers for the position.

Since taking up the Home Affairs job, Col Waqanisau has had serious differences with the army commander on several issues.

Commodore Bainimarama had recommended the sacking of Col Waqanisau late last year, saying the Home Affairs chief had been giving poor advice to the Government.

Radio Fiji says Col Waqanisau is being considered for the position of ambassador to China.

The current ambassador Luke Ratuvuki is returning to take up another job in Fiji.
