The Marshall Islands is holding commemorations marking the 50th anniversary of the explosion of the largest American hydrogen bomb.
The h-bomb was exploded on Bikini Atoll on March the 1st, 1954 with thousands of Marshall Islanders exposed to the Bravo test fallout and many displaced as a result.
They are now lobbying the U.S. for two billion U.S. dollars in compensation, cleanup and health care funding.
The general secretary of the New York-based National Council of Churches of Christ, Robert Edgar, is in Majuro for the ceremonies.
He says the church supports the calls by people from the atolls of Enewetak, Rongelap, Utrik and Bikini, for compensation.
The U.S. government has provided 270 million dollars in compensation and health care programmes which ended last year.
The Marshalls government says this is woefully inadequate.
