Indigenous people warned about exploitation

Indigenous people of the Pacific have been warned to wary of those who exploit the indigenous causes for their personal agenda and profit.

The Fiji Times reports that the warning has been issued by the Chairman of the Great Council of Chiefs, Ratu Epeli Ganilau.

Ratu Epeli has told leaders of indigenous communities from 5 Pacific island countries meeting in Fiji that they need to be careful of exploitation.

He says indigenous peoples from around the Pacific need to unite to face the global pressures placed on them.
