29 Fiji soldiers on deployment for British security company, Global Risk Strategies, have deserted their Iraq posts to work for another company.

The company's representative in Fiji, Lt Col Sakiusa Raivoce, says the men crossed the border from Um-Qassr into Kuwait where the other company is based.

He says the men have been struck off the company pay roll and lost all their benefits.

Lt Col Raivoce says the recruitment of men to do duty in Iraq continues, and another group is due to leave this month.
