Air Pacific delays jet purchase

10:17 am on 25 March 2004

The offer of some lower airfares in the Pacific has prompted Fiji's national airline, Air Pacific, to delay buying new jets from the European manufacturer, Airbus Industries.

The all-Boeing airline had ordered one 320 seat Airbus A330-300 aircraft for delivery next year, with three to come later.

But the lower airfares combined with a shortage of hotel rooms has forced Air Pacific to postpone delivery of the first Airbus plane until 2007.
