Police officers from Tuvalu and Nauru have joined the Australian-led Regional Assistance Mission in Solomon Islands.

They join officers from Polynesian and Melanesian countries.

Assistant commissioner of operations of the Participating Police Force, Robert Lehman, says their arrival is significant.

"That's an important aspect in itself that the region as a whole is fully supporting the position that has been taken to improve the conditions in Honiara from both a law and order perspective and from an economic growth perspective."
