Another abandoned ship found off New Caledonia

New Caledonian authorities have discovered another Taiwanese shipwreck, two weeks after a similar vessel was washed ashore on the island of Mare.

The vessel has been spotted off the Isle of Pines and maritime authorities say it poses a risk to navigation.

With the help of Taiwanese authorities, the latest fishing boat has been identified as a Taiwanese ship but it had not been reported missing and there is no sign of the crew.

It is the sister ship of a ship which had run onto a reef off Fiji nearly three years ago and whose crew was rescued by the Tongan navy.
