Hundreds of people are expected at a Papua New Guinea war cemetery tomorrow to mark Anzac Day and remember thousands of Australian soldiers buried there, not far from the start of the infamous Kokoda Trail where so many of them perished.
The Bomana War Cemetery, just outside the capital Port Moresby, holds special significance for Australians and New Zealand allied soldiers killed during World War II in the Pacific.
It is not far from where Australian and American troops reversed the Japanese advancement in 1943 and began the slow bloody battle back up the Kokoda Trail.
The President of the Port Moresby Returned Servicemen's League, Mark Bainbridge, told Australian Associated Press, they had close to a thousand people last year with the majority of the expatriate community in Port Moresby attending, and this year are expecting a bumper crowd
