Fiji's vice president, Ratu Jope Seniloli, will face a maximum of life imprisonment if he if found guilty next month of trying to usurp the presidency immediately after the coup.
The deputy speaker of parliament, Ratu Rakuita Vakalalabure, and the sport minister, Isireli Leweniqila, also face life behind bars for being sworn in as ministers in George Speight's failed administration.
Radio Legend says the sentences have been revealed by the assistant director of public prosecutions, Gregor Allen.
The three high profile figures and three other men have been charged with taking an illegal oath to commit a capital offence and another of engaging in a seditious enterprise.
Mr Allen says the first charge carries a maximum sentence of life behind bars while the second carries a maximum of five years in prison.
Their High Court trial will begin in Suva on June the 15th.
